Settings lost when upgrading from 4.6 to 4.7

Jan 10, 2012 at 6:56 PM

When I updated from 4.6 to 4.7, my settings were set back to the default settings.  Does not help to copy the 4.6 settings file into the 4.7 folder.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I was using StyleCop+ as a plugin.  Would this cause the problem?

I had updated to R# 6.1 a few weeks ago and that didn't seem to cause any issues with StyleCop 4.6.  I didn't lose my settings until I upgraded StyleCop from 4.6 to 4.7.

I should clarify that I am not talking about R# settings for the Stylecop settings as they show up in R#.  I am talking specifically about the Settings.StyleCop settings file and opening this file from the StyleCopSettingsEditor app.

It is better not to touch "root" settings file placed in Program Files.
What if you run some fresh-not-fully-tested MSI and it will overwrite the file?

IMHO, it is better to have settings file somewhere at the top of your file system.
