Please help me!!! : <SourceFileList> is working at project level but it is not working at solution level

Jun 6, 2012 at 7:14 AM

First of all I would like to say thanks for the great tool.

I am using below setting file.

<StyleCopSettings Version="105">
   <SourceFileList>
    <SourceFile>LimitedConcurrencyLevelTaskScheduler.cs</SourceFile>
    <SourceFile>AssemblyInfo.cs</SourceFile>
    <SourceFile>GlobalSuppressions.cs</SourceFile>
    <Settings>
      <GlobalSettings>
        <BooleanProperty Name="RulesEnabledByDefault">False</BooleanProperty>
      </GlobalSettings>
    </Settings>
  </SourceFileList>
  <SourceFileList>
    <SourceFile>Global.asax.cs</SourceFile>
    <Settings>
      <Analyzers>
        <Analyzer AnalyzerId="Microsoft.StyleCop.CSharp.DocumentationRules">
          <Rules>
            <Rule Name="FileHeaderFileNameDocumentationMustMatchFileName">
              <RuleSettings>
                <BooleanProperty Name="Enabled">False</BooleanProperty>
              </RuleSettings>
            </Rule>
          </Rules>
        </Analyzer>
      </Analyzers>
    </Settings>
  </SourceFileList>
</StyleCopSettings>

It's working fine at project level.

But when I am keeping same file at solution level and when I used below file at a project level than its not working.

<StyleCopSettings Version="105">
  <GlobalSettings>
    <StringProperty Name="LinkedSettingsFile">..\Settings.StyleCop</StringProperty>
    <StringProperty Name="MergeSettingsFiles">Linked</StringProperty>
  </GlobalSettings>
</StyleCopSettings>

Is SourFileList is working at project level only or Am i missing something?

Thanks

Alok Shah

Can you open a work item and attach a zip of the solution/project with a clear repro of what the problem is please and I'll investigate.

Hi Andyr,

Thanks for your response. I have created a work item for it and you can find it here (http://stylecop.codeplex.com/workitem/7322).

I don't have access to my pc at present but you don't normally need to link to the solution settings file from your project settings file. Just leave it with the default of merge and it will search in the parent folder by default.
