Resharper dependency for StyleCop

Apr 12, 2013 at 7:34 PM
I am part of an company that uses only VS 2012 on all developer machines and not ReSharper.
We would like to use StyleCop only with VS 2012 and have no interest in using Resharper.
Even though StyleCop would work on VS 2012 without Resharper.
We would like to know what type of dependency StyleCop has with Resharper.

Since Resharper JetBean DLL's are referenced in the StyleCop source code.
From license governance perspective we would like to know if any of the JetBean code or dependencies are downloaded to your machine having only VS 2012.

There are no ReSharper dependencies in StyleCop itself. The project has a ReSharper plugin that enables "quick-fixes" for the rule violations and provides in-line highlighting of violations as you type. If you do not have ReSharper installed it will detect this and not deploy it to your machine.

However StyleCop is greatly enhanced with ReSharper installed and will save you a LOT of time fixing your violations and IMO is well worth the licence fee.

Stylecop has no dependencies on ReSharper at all.
