Can't open StyleCop Settings in VS2015

Feb 10, 2016 at 8:55 AM
When I try to open the stylecop settings in a vs2015 project i get:

Unable to Cast Object of type 'System.XmI.XmIComment' to type

But it works in vs2012 (on the same box).

Any ideas?

I'm seeing the same error, but it isn't obvious at first glance where the error is coming from. I will hopefully fix it for the next release, but it may take a while (a few days to a few weeks) before I can get it done.

Having the same problem here. StyleCop itself runs as expected, but configuration does not work.
Is there maybe a manual workaround to configure StyleCop without using the RMB-variant?

The error occurs when trying to parse the project file for the build integrations option page in the settings editor. It appears that the vs extension is using an older version of MSBuild assembly, and that cannot read VS14 projects (i.e. projects with ToolsVersion=14.0, ToolsVersion=12.0 seems to work fine).

Until this is fixed, you can navigate to the folder where the settings file exists and double click on the settings file, to edit it. You will not see the build integration page, but the rest of them should work as expected.

This is fixed in the release.
