I've recently implemented two custom rules in StyleCop to enforce some coding standards when writing unit tests. The specific ones I've written so far are:
1) [TestMethod] decorated methods must have a [Description(string)] attribute.
2) Test methods with the [Description(string)] attribute must have a non-null or empty description.
A few other's I'm thinking about are enforcing the use of custom error messages in the Assert methods.
Seeming as StyleCop is a Microsoft tool and so is MSTest, is there any chance of rule for MSTest coding standards like the ones mentioned above being built into a future version? Presumably if it was flexible enough, it could be easily extended for
those using NUnit etc.
